The RD Legs Charity Auction is now over.
(Thank you to everyone who placed a bid and congratulations to Ronald Lo (Hong Kong) who made a very generous offer and secured the chairs. All monies raised will go toward helping the EB Trust.)
On 12 October, artist Sarah Blood, will be traveling to Nepal to work with the Esther Benjamin Trust for three months. The EB Trust works to rescue trafficked Nepalese children from Indian circuses where they have been exploited as slave labour in dangerous and abusive conditions. While there Sarah will be teaching sculpture to the rescued girls, giving them the skills and confidence to gain employment within the creative sector, helping them to build a better quality of life.
To assist with raising funds to contribute to the costs associated with the trip, Cohda Design have donated two of their RD Legs chairs produced by designer Richard Liddle. The chairs have been specially manufactured for Sarah in a one-off Blood red colour and are signed by both artist and designer. A silent online auction is taking place from Monday, 15 September with email bids to auction@sarahblood.com being accepted until midnight on 29 September.
Normally retailing up to £789 each, all offers for the two chairs will be considered. The chairs will be delivered* to the highest bidder after 29 September and the winner announced on www.sarah-in-nepal.blogspot.com.
All monies raised by the auction will go to support the Nepal project.
The RD chairs are hand woven in 100% recycled domestic plastic waste and have been widely acknowledged as one of the most recent iconic ECO products. Recently shortlisted in the category of "Innovation" in the House and Garden Classic design at the V&A, samples of the chairs can be found on permanent display in such prestigious locations as the Die Neue Sammlung, Industrial Design Museum, Munchen Germany and the Singapore Science Centre Singapore.
